"The Story of a Ragged Old Map"

presented by John Kelsey

We’re excited to invite you to the Museum’s Quarterly Lecture event, on October 16, 2025, in the Moseley Art Gallery located on the (elevator accessible) second floor. This event will feature the formal unveiling of the recently restored, very historic 1872 cloth Oakwood Cemetery Map. A presentation by John Kelsey entitled "The Story of a Ragged Old Map" will be given. Mr. Kelsey will tell us about the history of the map, its relevance to the tumultuous Post Civil War era in Jefferson and the significant importance the map has to Jefferson’s history. This event will be a wonderful opportunity to explore little known Jefferson history, learn something new about Texas history not found in most history textbooks, and enjoy a pre-event free wine and cheese reception in a welcoming community gathering.

We look forward to seeing you there
on Thursday, October 16, 2025!
